THE STORY:

The story begins in Montelupo Albese, where Beppe Caviola rents the vineyard of his dreams, called Barturot, and thanks to the skills he learned during his studies at the Alba School of Oenology, he begins to vinify the grapes in the garage of his parents' house. Driven by curiosity and intuition, Beppe Caviola is convinced that innovation must always be at the service of tradition. A significant step for a dreamer who grew up in the Langhe of the time: hills that were not yet famous, where a new wind was starting to blow, and where owning a tractor to work a vineyard could make the difference.

Beppe's great debut came when, encouraged by the already established Barolo star Elio Altare, he bottled what would be his first label, the Dolcetto Barturot.

Another challenge immediately follows: in Montelupo, Beppe also manages a small plot of Barbera which he decides to vinify according to new guidelines, and the famous Bric du Luv is born, which sums up the evolution that is beginning.

In 1996, with the birth of the new labels, Dolcetto Vilot and Barbera Brichet, Beppe dedicated himself completely to viticulture, while at the same time exploiting the skills as a taster refined over the years. Thus began the consultancy for producer friends - Elio Altare, Abbona Marziano, Angelo Rocca, Quinto Chionetti, Domenico Clerico, Luca Vietti, Stefano Mocagatta, Valter Fissore - which soon turned into a real business. Thus began his career as an oenologist, arriving to receive in 2002 the nomination of "Oenologist of the Year" by Gambero Rosso and Slow Food, recognitions that allowed him to undertake consultancy outside the region.

“A Rented Vineyard and the King of Wines”

In the same year, the winery moved to Dogliani, where the Caviola family created the Villa Bracco relais, a complex where production, consultancy and tourist reception coexist in harmony, united by the same philosophy of simplicity and excellence. In 2005, the most prestigious chapter began: managing a vineyard of Nebbiolo for Barolo. The Sottocastello di Novello cru was chosen, and the first label of the “King of Wines” entered the scene.

In the following years Ca' VioLa continued to grow, thanks both to the introduction of the figure of Michela Vivalda who, integrating her energy with the figure of Beppe Caviola, brought a new air to the company; and of international vines such as Chardonnay and Riesling, giving life to fresh and innovative wines, which underline the constant desire to experiment.

From the hills of the wolves to Dogliani up to Barolo: much road has been travelled, much remains to be travelled, the future has already begun.

Winemaking tradition

Since the beginning, the consultancy activity has grown a lot, while maintaining its initial approach: helping producers to make their wines, leaving the figure of the cellar technician in the background.

This philosophy, combined with the figure of the winemaker, has led Beppe Caviola to collaborate with companies and cellars in over half of the Italian regions; a plurality of styles, winemaking traditions, knowledge and terroir that he tries to interpret as faithfully as possible, always imposing one rule: that of not imposing rules.

The result is impeccable wines, products of the terroir and capable of being drunk with satisfaction.

Currently the modern analysis laboratory, fully integrated into the company complex, It is managed by the young and passionate Andrea, who carries on this activity with the same Beppe's resourcefulness and passion.
