Collection: TERREDORA DIPAOLO
Since 1978, Terredora has been the undisputed protagonist of the Campania wine renaissance. Combining experience and tradition, it has introduced modern innovations, technical knowledge and men intent on enhancing the future of the ancient native vines into the cultivation of the wine, promoting the return of Campania viticulture to its most ancient and qualified tradition.
In Campania, the history of man is intimately linked to that of the vine and Terredora's commitment is to bring the taste of this fascinating land, made generous by the fire of volcanoes and the sun, to every glass. After the Second World War, Walter Mastroberardino, a tenacious man from the South, began to carry around Italian cities, Milan in the lead, the bottles he produced together with his brothers in the company they had inherited. In 1994, this chapter of his life ended and, at sixty, when others would have decided to retire to private life, he embarked on a new path with his children Daniela, Lucio and Paolo, thanks to the support of his wife, Dora Di Paolo. It is no coincidence that he chose to name his new company after this silent, but always present and industrious woman. The cellar was built in Montefusco for the vinification of the grapes from the estates that had been purchased way back in 1978, when Irpinia was almost entirely uncultivated. There was and is a strong awareness that only direct control of all production processes ensures the global quality that is at the origin of all great wines.
Great successes, in twenty-five years of history, but also very sad pages, with the passing of Dora and immediately after, in 2013, the premature passing of Lucio Mastroberardino, a talented young man who, in 2006, in London, had achieved the goal of being nominated for Oenologist of the Year for the white wines category in the International Competition "The International Wine Challenge". From that moment, Walter Mastroberardino, with the typical wisdom of a man who has gone through many storms in life, but has not been defeated by them, decides that, in painful moments, more than ever it is the family that must be on the front line and take up the challenges of this new phase, with Paolo and Daniela Mastroberardino committed to carrying forward that entrepreneurial project, which took its first steps in the 1994 harvest. The history of Terredora is the portrait of Walter and his family, in all the colors of his land and its industrious people.
Southern Italy is one of the most interesting wine regions in the world, and of all the regions, Campania produces the most fascinating wines, all made from some of the oldest indigenous grape varieties - Aglianico, Fiano, Greco and Falanghina. This is even more true in Irpinia, where the winery and various estates are located.
