Collection: ROCCHE MANZONI FARM OF VALENTINO
History
From fine dining to the world of wine:
a path characterized by great courage
In 1974 Valentino Migliorini, already the owner and promoter of a starred restaurant together with his wife, decided to buy a farmhouse in the Langhe, in Monforte d'Alba. With his experience as a winemaker and his innate ability to be ahead of his time, in 1976 Valentino created the first blended wine of Langa: Bricco Manzoni, a blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera; but he didn't stop there, a couple of years later, in 1978, he began his production of Spumante Metodo Classico and introduced barriques for the refinement of reds. Valentino Migliorini was the first to bring small oak barrels to Langa, which soon reached 300 units.
In 1982 the barriques were used for all the vinification processes and in 1999 the first 10-year reserve Barolo was produced.
Experimentation has marked all of Rocche dei Manzoni's production. This, together with attention to detail, has led the company to establish itself as a great interpreter of Piedmontese red wines and to open the way for the production of classic method sparkling wine in the Langhe. Even though it took more than thirty years before other producers decided to try their hand at bubbles.
“My father was a great example. He always kept me by his side, letting me experiment freely, even when he didn't agree with my ideas”
Rodolfo Migliorini
Today, the Rocche dei Manzoni company is led by Rodolfo Migliorini, Valentino's son and a great lover of the Langhe. Rodolfo has had several experiences abroad to complete his training, dealing with realities different from those of Piedmont. This has enriched his cultural background, already oriented by his father's teachings. His return to the company and his succession at the helm were therefore marked by the desire to continue with dedication and seriousness the path undertaken by Valentino.
Cellar
50 Hectares in the Municipality of Monforte
Founded in 1974 by Valentino Migliorini, the Rocche dei Manzoni company is based in Monforte d'Alba, in the Manzoni area.
A complex structured on several rooms that integrates perfectly with the splendid hilly landscape of Langa. A place where art, culture and music blend together to give life to a unique journey to discover the great vintages of Langa. 50 hectares located within the municipality of Monforte.
An indissoluble bond, the one with the hills, which has led the company to consider only acquisitions within the municipality. In 1998, the Pianpolvere Soprano winery in Bussia was also acquired, managed as a separate entity, an organically run company and also certified biodynamic at the end of the 2017 harvest.
The production philosophy is based on the desire to intervene as little as possible in the cellar processes. However, this does not mean giving up a style. Rocche dei Manzoni has always been faithful to itself and is based on the use of new barriques for red wines. Over the years, Rodolfo has understood how to properly assimilate the wood to the wine and this is why in 2008 he introduced concrete eggs. Thanks to their use, the company has managed to find its own key to obtaining even more elegant and silky wines.
