Collection: COSTARIPA: THE WINES OF MATTIA VEZZOLA
Coastal
1936
It all starts from a deep passion of a man who, living in a territory with a historical vocation for “Rosé”, decides to undertake an experience of winegrower and cellarman on his own. Mattia Vezzola senior thus buys the first vineyards in Moniga in the “Costa” area, where the current Costaripa winery will be built about 60 years later.
Costaripa is located in the heart of Valtènesi in Moniga del Garda .
The architecture that can be seen, redraws the contours of the surrounding land and through the use of natural materials it completely merges into the morphology and colors of the place in harmony with the territory. The winery has always represented the value of research into new technologies at the service of tradition and respect for a philosophy exclusively aimed at quality. The company, in its close relationship with man, opens its doors to guided visits and tastings to intensely savor the history and typicality of its wines.
Rosé Philosophy
Rosé from Valtènesi
An antidote to formalism!
Costaripa Rosès are an antidote to the banality and complication of everyday life.
These are wines that express themselves through elegance and nonconformism.
They are wines with exotic and violet aromas.
They are wines with persuasive, silky and very elegant flavours, with a rare persistence of flavour.
The Rosè Costaripa has always been considered a cutting-edge wine for its typical pale colours of powder and pearl, a marked evolutionary capacity due to the elevation in small oak barrels which amplify the volume of the aromatic and gustatory range, the natural juiciness brings to mind the sun and Mediterranean breezes. The dedicated vineyards are selected only in the foothill areas exposed to the sunrise. The bunches are harvested exclusively by hand when they reach perfect ripeness only in the early hours of the morning. Once transported to the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and the must remains in contact with the skins for the time necessary to obtain the maximum qualitative extraction of aromatic and gustatory precursors and mineral salts. The must is separated from the skins through the action of gravity, thus concentrating the yields only on the extraction of the noblest part of the grape in the more traditional “Vinificazione a Lacrima”. The Costaripa style has always included the use of small white oak barrels for the fermentation and elevation of its Rosés, in order to increase their ability to pass through time.
2022

The Gambero Rosso guide awards Rosamara with the maximum score, 3 glasses.
In 1896 in Valtènesi there is a viticulture dedicated exclusively to the production of a red grape, extraordinarily refined and at the same time fragile like that of Groppello Gentile. Always 5,500 plants grown in Guyot in respect of a consolidated harmony between the value of the subsoil and the value of the above-soil, what is defined in jargon terroir and that we like to define "ORIGIN".
A very rare grape with blue berries, the bunch belongs to the extremely tight and conical vines, and ripens after mid-September. The bunch is not very resistant to the cold and for this reason it has found its ideal location on the shores of Lake Garda in Valtènesi, with well-ventilated exposures to the east or south; it loves light, loose soils and in the foothill areas.
The average age of our vineyards is over 35 years, since 2005 we have reintroduced the principle of Massale selection and irrigation is strictly prohibited.
Since 1984, a wonderful adventure has made us discover the enormous potential of Groppello, consisting of an unusual elegance and an unexpected longevity.
Cultivated with respect and vinified according to tradition (12 months of evolution in pieces), the result is a truly surprising wine.
Valtènesi Territory
Valtènesi extends from north to south between the municipalities of Desenzano and Salò, in the heart of the morainic amphitheater on the Brescia side of Lake Garda. It is an area characterized by a unique microclimate, influenced by the largest Italian lake.
It includes two areas once identified as: “Riviera dei Castelli” and “Riviera dei Limoni” to signify the presence of 7 medieval castles and at the same time the northernmost point in the world suitable for growing citrus fruits.
20 km of coasts exposed to the sunrise and bathed by 370 square km of water with a minimum winter temperature of 7°C, with a very slow water exchange of 28 years. Land kissed by 3000 hours of sunshine a year with morning and evening breezes that cool and maintain the balance of the natural elements that give us the uniqueness of this climatic prodigy defined as "sub-Mediterranean". Light soils of glacial origin that represent the unique value of biodiversity with approximately 67 types of soil, which have always given our wines flavor, harmony and aromatic complexity. Moniga in 1896 identifies the starting point in Italy of "Vinification in Rosé" giving life in a few years to the birth of 12 wineries and the manifestation of a lifestyle dedicated to the enhancement and defense of this magical territory; a land created to teach men to enjoy the beautiful things in life.
Lake Garda
Lake Garda, of glacial origin, is part of that large climatic zone which also includes the first Alpine valleys to the north and denotes a temperate-continental climate, but which locally manifests conditions significantly mitigated by the mass of water.
Rainfall is well distributed, only in summer can it be interrupted by intense thunderstorms, subsequently countered by a good presence of fresh winds from the North and mild winds from the South, many of which are periodic or even daily.
In winter, temperatures are less rigid than in the surrounding areas and rarely fall below zero.
