The Terre, a classic Bordeaux blend, follows in the footsteps of its “big brother” San Leonardo, born from the same terroire, it expresses great freshness and balance.

A classic Bordeaux blend, Terre di San Leonardo follows in the footsteps of its older brother, the famous San Leonardo. A red with an unmistakable character, the result of a careful blend of the varieties that have always found space on the estate, whose vinification takes place in large steel tanks and whose maturation continues for 80% in large oak barrels for 18 months and for 20% in barriques for at least 6 months. Broad, enveloping, aristocratic in its traits, it amazes at every outing for its intensity and refined elegance.

THE GRAPES:

International vines are grown within the estate; Carmenère , planted in the mid-1800s, is the true essence of San Leonardo wines, grown both pergola and Guyot, it gives character and identity to San Leonardo. Merlot planted in the early 1900s and grown both as spurred cordon and pergola, it offers roundness and softness. While the Cabernet Sauvignon , planted by Marchese Carlo in 1978 and grown exclusively with spurred cordon, gives structure and elegance. The planting density varies according to the type of cultivation: 6,200 vines per hectare for the guyot and spurred cordon and 1,800 for the double trentina pergola.

TASTING NOTES:

Bright ruby red. The nose expresses a certain breadth that develops with notes of vinous first and then of plum, dried violet, tobacco. A herbaceous trace opens to a dry, soft, balanced taste, characterized by a finish of great persistence, pleasantly bitter.
