Simply Serralunga Barolo at the peak of its potential. Barolo DOCG Vigna Rionda Riserva is the wine the company is most proud of.
Protagonist of the company's history, Vigna Rionda is one of the most sought-after and prestigious Crus of the Langhe. We are not just talking about microclimate and soil: something happens on that hill and that something gives life to the Riserva Vigna Rionda, a truly unique wine.
Produced with Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyard located in the Me.GA “Vigna Rionda” in Serralunga d'Alba.
THE WINE:
Appearance: deep garnet red.
On the nose: it reveals multiple sensations, broad and enveloping, ranging from those of the first years, more on red fruits and flowers to the more evolved ones of undergrowth, tobacco, spices that come with aging. It is a harmony of fascinating facets that are released and evolve slowly in the glass.
On the palate: Vigna Rionda is a unique Barolo, impossible to contain its description in a few lines and it is difficult to compare it to others even in the Serralunga area. It is a wine capable of complexity, longevity and structure fused in an elegance that has no equal. It requires a little patience to express itself at its best and that is why, the only one in our range, it leaves the cellar after the sixth year of refinement as a Reserve. It is advisable to decant it and drink it at a temperature of 18-20°C. A wine that is always evolving, it is excellent when paired with meat-based dishes, rich in intense and persistent aromas and flavours, with mature cheeses or as a meditation wine, for those who want to enjoy it while relaxing and appreciating all its many qualities in their maximum purity and with due calm. The soil and microclimate of this hill allow us to obtain exceptionally structured and complex wines. The traditional winemaking process enhances the qualities of this Cru, respecting its natural predisposition for long aging and underlining, at the same time, the elegance and depth that only this vineyard can give us.
REFINING AND AGEING:
Traditional Barolo with long-term fermentation and maceration in oak vats at a temperature of around 30°C; aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for up to 42 months, then refined for up to 24 additional months in the bottle.
