Pomino Castle

The Castello Pomino estate dates back to 1500, the year the Castle of the same name was built, and from the very beginning it has stood out for the excellence of the place where it stands. This is evidenced by the story of 1716, when the Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici identified the four most suitable territories in Tuscany for producing Quality Wines:

in the announcement, considered the precursor of modern DOCs, the territory of Pomino is listed alongside Chianti, Carmignano and Val d'Arno di Sopra. In 1873, the wines of Pomino were awarded at the Universal Exhibition in Vienna, while in 1878 they obtained the Gold Medal at the Expo in Paris, the highest international recognition of the time.

THE WINE:

Pomino Bianco 2022 has a bright straw yellow color, almost crystalline, with light greenish reflections. On the nose, as in its DNA, it presents itself with clear hints of green apple and pear, but the floral component is equally intense, with a rich bouquet of white and yellow flowers among which we recognize lime, hawthorn, wisteria, lily and mimosa. The olfactory finish recalls exotic fruits such as mango accompanied by notes of acacia honey. In the mouth it is straight, very fresh, slightly savoury and mineral. Even in the finish its “mountain” character is underlined by a pleasant freshness with citrus twists.

VINIFICATION AND MATURATION:

The grapes were harvested with the greatest possible care. The care taken in the vineyard as well as the subsequent work in the cellar helped to ensure a high level of quality. From the moment they entered the cellar, the grapes and consequently the musts were processed while avoiding contact with oxygen as much as possible. The pressing cycles were chosen to allow for gentle extraction of the musts. The alcoholic fermentation was carried out in steel tanks and a small part in French oak barriques, all at a controlled temperature. At the end of its production process, Pomino Bianco was left to refine in the bottle. Only after this additional period was it ready to reveal its structure and its explosion of freshness to the public.
