Tormaresca's pure Negroamaro takes its name from the Salento estate where it is produced. The wine stands out for the splendid contrast between a powerful nose and a soft and elegant palate.

HISTORICAL DATA:

Masseria Maìme is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Alto Salento, not far from the town of San Pietro Vernotico – Brindisi. The estate extends along the coast, creating a unique landscape of vineyards that grow among woods and pine forests and disappear as far as the eye can see until they merge with the sea. The most common varieties are: Negroamaro, Primitivo, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

THE VINTAGE:

The 2019 vintage in Salento was generally regular. A winter with a generally mild climate and rainfall in the historical average preceded a cool spring, causing a delay in budding and subsequent flowering. The summer was regular, dry and characterized by moderate ventilation, allowing the red grapes to reach optimal ripeness and a notable concentration, while maintaining the integrity of the fruity notes. The Negroamaro harvest for Masseria Maìme was carried out between September 26 and October 1, in line with the average of recent years.

VINIFICATION AND REFINING:

After a delicate pressing, the grapes were transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 26-28 °C. Maceration, managed with gentle pumping over and délestage in order to achieve a gradual and balanced extraction, lasted for 15-18 days. Subsequently, the wine was refined in 300-litre French and Hungarian oak tonneaux. A further 15-month period of bottle ageing followed.

TASTING NOTES:

Masseria Maìme has a ruby red color. The nose presents fruity notes of sour cherry and plum combined with pleasant sweet sensations of dog rose, iris and vanilla, with a light spiciness of black pepper on the finish. The entry to the palate is soft, supported by elegant tannins and a very balanced finish.
