The Artists Collection for Frescobaldi
The works of Contemporary Art in CastelGiocondo, in the cellar, in the garage, in the dining room, are part of the Artists for Frescobaldi Collection.
The nine works exhibited in the CastelGicoondo spaces are by artists who have taken part in the Premio Biennale Artisti per Frescobaldi, starting in 2013.
Conceived and directed by Tiziana Frescobaldi, the Artists for Frescobaldi Project features the CastelGiocondo estate and is curated by Ludovico Pratesi, a critic and curator of Contemporary Art. After three editions, the fourth will be held in 2018. The selection of artists is entrusted to Ludovico Pratesi, in agreement with Tiziana Frescobaldi. The choice starts from a curricular analysis, which includes at least one personal exhibition in an international museum. Thus, through the Artists for Frescobaldi Project, the ancient tradition of patronage of the Frescobaldi family is revived, which since the Renaissance has stood alongside illustrious artists, which has supported Art in past centuries, as a patron and as a collector.
Three artists participate in the Award at a time: one Italian artist and two from a foreign country chosen in turn. It has already been the turn of Italy, Germany, the United States, and this year Switzerland. The Jury is appointed by Tiziana Frescobaldi and Ludovico Pratesi. It changes for each edition, and is composed of three directors of Contemporary Art museums. The winner of the Award is chosen by them. The artists are first invited to CastelGiocondo to interpret, in the language of art, the Estate and the world of wine in general. They are asked to create a work for the Award and to design a label for the harvest dedicated to Artists for Frescobaldi of the CastelGiocondo Brunello di Montalcino wine. A limited and numbered edition of 999 magnum bottles, 333 for each artist.
