Of the 88 hectares of vineyards owned by Tenuta Luce, 11 are registered in the Brunello di Montalcino register. Here is where the Sangiovese for Luce Brunello is born, our tribute to this excellent wine born in Montalcino in the second half of the nineteenth century. It was the first in Italy to win, in 1980, the recognition of the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin and today it is one of the most representative among the excellent wines made in Italy. It is the Sangiovese grapes coming mainly from the vineyard called 'Madonnino', ideal for exposure and soil composition (galestro), that fully express the perfect combination of structure and elegance in the wine, with a powerful and at the same time enchanting style. |
THE 2017 VINTAGE:
The 2017 vintage was characterized by a mild and relatively dry winter, which favored early budding. The sudden drop in temperatures at the end of April, which involved several areas of Tuscany, did not cause any problems for our vineyards, thanks to their high positioning. Subsequently, the period between May and August was characterized by very little rain and intense heat, which limited the vegetative development of the plants and reduced the size of the bunches. The rains at the beginning of September gave some relief to the plants in their last stage of grape ripening, allowing an early harvest of about 10 days, healthy with small bunches very concentrated in polyphenols and tannins due to the fact of having a skin/juice ratio in favor of the skin.
TASTING NOTES:
Compact and very bright ruby. The nose is concentrated with notes of red fruits, mainly morello cherry, ripe blood orange and spices. The palate is rich and enveloping, with a beautiful tension that allows to enhance the perfectly integrated tannic texture. The finish is fascinating, for the great flavor and long persistence. A wine of extraordinary integrity, with great aging potential.
