Galantas represents the maximum expression of Cabernet Franc in the Maipo Andes Valley. A wine capable of expressing the characteristic vibrant elegance and varietal finesse of this unique terroir. The grapes come from the organic vineyards of Haras de Pirque, in the Maipo Andes Valley, at about 650 meters above sea level. Here the Cabernet Franc is able to best express its great potential, favored by the cool nights of the Andes foothills.
THE CLIMATE:
The 2019 harvest at Haras de Pirque enhanced the varietal characteristics of the grapes. A generally cool spring and a generally warm summer allowed for optimally ripe grapes. The cool afternoons and nights of January and April gave the wine freshness and elegance. The Cabernet Franc harvest was carried out in two phases: at the beginning of April in the vineyards located upstream, and at the end of the month in those located downstream.
VINIFICATION AND REFINING:
The 4 different plots of Cabernet Franc were vinified separately in both stainless steel and French oak vats. Cold maceration, aimed at enhancing the aromatic component of the grapes, took place over 3 - 5 days. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the wine was transferred to barriques, where it aged for a period of 14 months.
THE WINE:
Galantas has an intense red color. The nose expresses fresh notes of red fruit such as strawberry and black cherry combined with pleasant sensations of spices.
