Pirque Haras
Haras de Pirque is located in the northern part of the Maipo area, a central region of Chile, known for producing high quality wines and characterized by extremely favorable climatic and geographical conditions. The vineyards surrounding the estate are bordered by the stable circuit and the winery has the shape of a traditional horseshoe. The rows are located between 550 and 650 meters above sea level, south of the Maipo River, on the first slopes of the Andes . Thus the wines produced in this area contain a high concentration of tannins, great structure and intense color.
THE CLIMATE:
The 2020 season was characterized by a winter with precipitation
regular and moderate temperatures during the budding phase, allowing a homogeneous development of the vineyards. The temperatures tending to be lower than average during the summer allowed to obtain grapes with an excellent balance between maturity and freshness.
VINIFICATION AND REFINING:
The different exposures of the Ecràl vineyard favor distinct ripening times; for this reason the different lots of Carménère used were harvested separately.
Upon arrival at the cellar, the grapes were briefly cold macerated and, following alcoholic fermentation, the wine was transferred to French oak barriques where malolactic fermentation and refinement took place. Ecràl was then assembled and bottled.
THE WINE:
Ecràl has an intense cherry red color. On the nose, notes of black berry fruit, spices and floral sensations make up the aromatic profile. On the palate it is broad, persistent, characterized by great freshness and soft and elegant tannins.
