In 2012, fifty years after the foundation of Cantine San Marzano, Collezione Cinquanta was born. Without a vintage, designed for the occasion, a precious blend of the best red grape varieties typical of Salento. Powerful and structured, with a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits and spices.
PRODUCTION AREA:
San Marzano (TA), Salento, Puglia. Average altitude of about 100 m above sea level. Medium-high temperatures in the summer period. Soil: Medium clayey mixture, shallow with good presence of skeleton.
VINIFICATION AND REFINING:
The grapes are harvested manually in small baskets. Destemming-crushing, cold pre-fermentation maceration (8°C) and subsequent start of alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 24 - 26°C. Final racking with soft presses. Malolactic fermentation in steel and subsequent stay in French oak barriques for 12 months
THE WINE:
Ruby red color with purple reflections. Intense and complex bouquet in which fruity notes attributable to plum and jam stand out, as well as spicy tertiary hints that recall vanilla and licorice. Intense palate, with great structure and softness; long finish
