VINTAGE:
The 2022 vintage has yielded excellent results thanks to overall favorable weather conditions. Temperatures were mostly in line with the average of recent years; only in June was there a peak in heat that slowed down the vegetative phase which then - thanks to the return of temperatures to seasonal averages - regularly resumed its course. From a quantitative point of view, there was a slight drop in production compared to 2021; the quality of the vintage was extremely positive.
HARVEST AND VINIFICATION:
The harvest of Chardonnay La Fuga, which takes place during the first half of August, occurs at dawn, a technical choice to preserve the quality of the grapes during transport from the vineyard to the cellar, enhance the aromatic qualities during pressing, a sustainable choice also aimed at achieving energy savings. Fermentation is carried out in steel at a temperature of 15-16°C. It is then refined in the tank, on the noble lees, for five months and at least three months in the bottle before being marketed.
TASTING NOTES:
With a bright straw yellow color, La Fuga 2021 offers a fragrant bouquet with notes of yellow apple and citrus peel (lemon) along with delicate hints of white flowers. In the mouth it is savory and fresh thanks to a pleasant acidic vein. Longevity to be enjoyed over 4-5 years.
FOOD WINE PAIRING:
Perfect with vegetable and seafood risottos. Also excellent with aromatic chicken, savory pies and fish main courses. Serve in tall, generously sized glasses, it can be uncorked at the moment, excellent at 10–12°C.
