BERLUCCHI PALAZZO LANA: EXTRA BRUT

It is the flagship of the Berlucchi house. Produced only from the great vintages, it ages on its own yeasts for at least ten years.

Unique

It is Franciacorta at its best. A reserve for special occasions that pairs pleasantly with dishes rich in structure and flavor. It can accompany important first courses, second courses of stewed fish and second courses of meat.

Palazzo Lana: without its halls there would be no Franciacorta to taste today. In particular the dazzling Sala del Caminadù with the large fireplace in Botticino marble where Guido Berlucchi and Franco Ziliani met for the first time. This is where it all began.

It was built in the sixteenth century on medieval structures by the Lana de' Terzi family, a noble lineage from which Guido Berlucchi descended, and reached its current appearance in the seventeenth century. It displays a superposition of different and perfectly blended architectural styles and inside you can admire unique works of art, such as the painting of Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus and patron of the arts, whose portrait dates back to 1495 when she was a guest at the palace.

VINIFICATION AND REFINING:

The “heart” of the free-run must, obtained by soft and progressive pressing, undergoes alcoholic fermentation in steel vats; at the end, some batches are transferred to oak barrels, where they are refined for 6 months in contact with the yeasts. Preparation of the cuvée in the spring following the harvest, with 100% of the vintage’s wines chosen from the best selections. Second fermentation in the bottle and subsequent refinement in contact with the yeasts for at least 10 years, followed by at least 6 months after disgorgement.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS:

Copious foam, persistent crown, very fine perlage. Intense straw yellow, with pink gold reflections. On the nose, broad olfactory sensations, with hints of yellow-fleshed fruits and candied orange. On the palate it stands out for its great freshness, clean taste and structure, all harmonized by minerality and acidity, which determine great persistence and important longevity.

CULINARY PAIRING:

It is a Riserva with an excellent body, which pairs pleasantly with dishes rich in structure and flavour. It can accompany important first courses, second courses of stewed fish and second courses of meat. SERVING TEMPERATURE: 10-12 °C.
