Starting from 2017 exclusively from a selection of Barbera grapes from the oldest vines of Vigna Mosconi, the latest acquisition of our Family in Monforte d'Alba, in the Barolo area. “Fides” represents an “act of faith” towards the Barbera vine, always planted in highly prestigious areas. Since 2017 it has been enriched on the label with the mention “Vigna Mosconi” and the denomination “Barbera d'Alba Superiore”.
THE WINE:
Very low yields and a strict selection of grapes. Produced in very small quantities. Full-bodied, balanced and rich. Spicy with hints of ripe fruit. Very long-lived. The Barbera d'Alba DOC Fides from the Pio Cesare winery reveals itself visually with an intense and deep ruby red color. The aromatic sensations that spread to the nose are broad, and highlight notes of red fruit that alternate with aromas of sweet spices. On the palate it is full-bodied, with a concentrated sip that is a synthesis of a balance between freshness and softness. A bottle that tells the story of the territory of the Piedmontese Langhe, and which finds its gastronomic vocation especially when paired with second courses of red meat and game.
VINIFICATION AND REFINING:
Vinification In steel. Maceration on the skins for about 30 days. Aging Immediately after racking, it stays in French oak barrels for about 12 months and in barriques for a small part.
