A mature and structured Barbera, which receives greater expressive depth thanks to a longer period of refinement. It is put on the market starting from the second year of refinement.
If our Barbera d'Alba DOC is a traditional red from the Langhe, we like to think that Gisep is the spokesperson for a grape variety that is also capable of surprising. “Gisep” is Giuseppe in Piedmontese: a tribute to the grandfather, who contributed significantly to the growth of the winery. It is obtained from a selection of grapes from different vineyards, only in the best years. Structured and opulent, pleasantly complex and rounded, yet surprisingly long-lived.
THE WINE:
the excellent exposures and the very low yields give excellent grapes that allow to obtain a wine with a remarkable complexity. Barbera is truly an important vine capable of giving amazing results: with this selection, dedicated to grandfather Giuseppe (in dialect “Gisep”), the company offers one of its best creations.
To the eye: intense, almost impenetrable purple red.
On the nose: elegant, sweet and captivating, the characteristic fruity notes of Barbera emerge.
On the palate: thanks to its structure and concentration it offers sensations to the palate that only great wines can give; it reveals a strong character in the softness given by the ripe grapes and the refinement. It is advisable to drink it at a temperature of 18-20°C. Ideal when paired with fresh egg pasta dishes seasoned with rich and tasty sauces, with second courses of meat such as the sumptuous Piedmontese mixed boiled meats and stewed meats. Also excellent when paired with medium-aged cow's milk cheeses.
VINIFICATION AND AGEING:
ferments for about 10 days in oak vats at temperatures around 30°C. It then partially ages in French oak barriques and in large Slavonian oak barrels for up to 18 months.
