THE VINTAGE:

The 2018 vintage was characterized by a late winter/spring period with abundant snowfall and then rain that allowed an ideal restoration of the precious water reserve after a 2017 with little rainfall. The vegetative start occurred in normal times, but the months of May and early June put the winemaker's ability to the test, who had to intervene promptly with anti-mildew treatments and suitable agronomic operations aimed at maintaining perfect health. The vintage continued with a hot and dry summer phase, but given the abundant quantity of production, significant work was necessary to eliminate excess bunches (thinning by 30-35%) which allowed an ideal continuation of ripening with great balance. The ideal climate established in the last weeks of summer and a September with mild days and cool nights that determined a gradual ripening and a development of distinct and elegant aromas were decisive. The harvest took place between October 5th and 10th with very healthy and perfectly ripe grapes. The wine reveals itself with a bouquet of great finesse with a strong mark of the terroir of origin right from the start, with a fresh, harmonious taste, long and accompanied by a texture of silky tannins. SOIL:

Grey-blueish clayey-calcareous marl with a good presence of microelements in the Barbaresco vineyard, sandier soils in the Treiso vineyard

VINIFICATION:

In steel tanks. 17/18 days of maceration in contact with the skins and soft wetting of the cap with the "shower" system at a temperature between 32 and 27 °C. Malolactic fermentation in steel

REFINEMENT:

At least 2 years of which 18 months in large barrels before refinement in the bottle

THE WINE:

Garnet red with brilliant reflections. Noble , complex, extremely elegant on the nose. Ethereal notes, small red fruits, rose petals, tea leaves. Refreshing on the palate, notable finesse of tannins and balanced long gustatory finish
